Rusinga Island benefits from Ubbink Solar panels

Dec 09 - 2013

Wageningen University (WUR) has started a large applied research project on Rusinga Island, Lake Victoria, Kenya.

WUR is installing on every household a solar system with a light, mobile phone charger and a mosquito trap to eradicate malaria from the peninsula. Mosquito nets have reduced the infection rate of malaria by about 30%. WUR hopes to achieve much higher rates with their electrically powered mosquito traps called Solarmal. Ubbink East Africa has been involved in the design of the system and is proud to be associated with such a good cause.
